We are all very pleased to be on North Wales'
Youth Committee this year. We have had a fun filled time and know
that this will be a great year too. Our centre will host the Welsh
National in August and we are very excited about this and the
events leading up to it. We range in age from 11 to 17 and attend
High Schools and a colleges in North Wales and the Wirral. If
anyone would like to join us during the year who is 11 to 19 (19
af-ter 22 October 2011), we would be very happy to welcome you.
Please speak to any of us or
Abigail, our Youth Liaison Officer.
Last year we raised nearly £500 for our chosen charities
and this year we will be focussing our energies on raising money
for youth events at our national. We look forward to your continued
help and encouragement and would like to take this opportunity
to thank everyone who supported us as a committee and the fundraising
events that we organised in the last year.
If anyone would like to join the youth committe they
can get nomination forms from Abigail, please contact her on 01244
310165 to request forms or to chat to her about the committee.
Forms have to be given to Diane Carrrington by 11am on Saturday,
8 October. The AGM will take place on the afternoon of Saturday,
22 October.
Our first meeting took place on Sunday, 29 January, we had some
of Abigail’s “luxury brownies” they had a very
nice frosting on the top – yum!
We discussed which charity or charities to support this year and
decided to think about ideas in the next month and bring our ideas
to the next meeting.
We were informed by Abigail that the Golden Grove Appeal no longer
existed, we then decided to split the money allocated to it with
our two charities so that Parkinson’s UK Vale of Clwyd Branch
and Teenage Cancer Trust will get £245 each.
Erica asked Abs if the theme for the Sunday night disco was definitely
a prom with the participants wearing centre colours, she confirmed
this.
Abs reported to us that Matthew had raised £46 at Boughton’s
New Year rally, we would like to thank everyone who supported
his efforts and the rally officers for letting him do this. THANK
YOU!
Holly told us Barry had dressed up as the Stig for the New Year’s
Eve Masquerade Ball on the Cholmondley New Year rally and had
offered a prize for the child who guessed who was behind the helmet,
many, many children guessed correctly. Rose and Barry increased
the initial prize money and very kindly donated £50 toward
our charity fund. Thank you Rose and Barry for your generosity.
THANK YOU!
Our next meeting will take place at Holly’s house on Sunday,
26 February and start at 2.00pm.
