Llangollen
Nestling in the valley of the
river Dee in North Wales, you will find the beautiful
and quaint small town of Llangollen. Here, at the
beginning of July each year, you will also find the
unique and vibrant Llangollen
International Musical Eisteddfod.
Shortlisted for the Nobel Peace
Prize in 2005, the event has as its Patron HRH The
Prince of Wales and Terry Waite, CBE, as its current
President.

Eisteddfod
This amateur
festival of music and dance began in post war 1947,
welcoming musicians and dancers from all parts of the
world to compete in competitions for all ages. Hospitality
and accommodation was, and still is, provided by local
families, for choirs, soloists, musicians and dancers,
who make their way to Llangollen from countries as far
away as Australia, the Americas, South Africa, both
Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, China etc etc! |

For
those closer to home shores, The Caravan Club, through
its North Wales Centre, stages a 10 day holiday rally
at Llangollen, on a site which can accommodate over
200 caravans and motor homes. Situated between the canal
and the road, ralliers can reach the town and Eisteddfod
site by a 20 minutes walk along the canal tow path,
a 5 minute drive into the town, or catch a bus from
the rally site entrance.

The
NWCC rally extends a warm welcome to all Caravan Club
members, some may wish to use the rally as a base for
the Eisteddfod, some to explore the North Wales area,
some to relax in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy
the rally itself – including a scrumptious cream
tea afternoon, a musical evening, a bingo evening, and
a members’ bring and buy sale in the club marquee.
Plans are now
in hand for the 2008 NWCC rally taking place from 4th
– 13th July.
